Ewald von Kleist Award

The Munich Security Conference inaugurated the Ewald von Kleist Award in 2009. Wolfgang Ischinger, the Conference Chairman, wishes to make the Award a regular event. It will be given to prominent individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to peace and conflict resolution.

The new award highlights the political life and work of Ewald von Kleist, who founded the Munich Security Conference, known in those days as the “Wehrkunde Conference”, 45 years ago and who continued to host it until 1998.
