Thank you for participating in the Junior Ambassadors contest
"I was delighted to see that well over 100 dedicated students and young professionals expressed their thoughts on how to revive and extend arms control", MSC Chairman Ischinger writes about the just-concluded Junior Ambassadors contest.
Congratulations to the three winners of this year's Junior Ambassadors contest: Sandra Rau from Germany, Nicholas Barile from the United States and Dmitry Solovyev from Russia. I would also like to thank all other applicants for their effort, time, and interest in this crucial issue for international security. As we witness a worrying trend of proliferation both of nuclear and conventional weapons, ideas on how to revive arms control mechanisms are urgently needed.
I was delighted to see that well over 100 dedicated students and young professionals expressed their thoughts on how to revive and extend arms control. The ideas put forward ranged from using block chain technology to track small arms and light weapons, and incentivizing ‘white hat hackers’ in order to uncover cyber vulnerabilities, to suggestions for building blocks towards a significant reduction of missile systems in the Euro-Atlantic area.
I look forward to welcoming the three winners in February 2018 at Hotel Bayerischer Hof. I invite everyone to follow the 54th edition of the Munich Security Conference via livestream on our website, on Facebook and on Twitter.
