Munich, 10 February 2019 ‒ Successful YouTube Creator from four nations will interview world leaders at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) for the first time. From February 14-17, leading conference attendees will hear from Ana Kasparian (USA), Haifa Beseisso (Dubai), Mirko Drotschmann (Germany) and Mihai-Alexandru Hash (Romania). Robin Blase (Germany) contributes background reports and reports about the MSC as an external reporter. These five video makers aim to inform young people from all over the world about the pressing global topics at the conference, exposing new audiences to big global questions of our time. Users from around the world can join the hashtag #yourMSC and submit questions to prominent conference attendees.

The focus area of creator interviews will depend on the respective discussion partners and reflect the broader topics discussed at the security conference. The future of the European Union, East-West relations and transatlantic relations will be primary themes as well as human rights and climate change.

Statement from Ana Kasparian, TheYoungTurks: "As a millennial who cares deeply about geopolitical issues, I understand the importance of open dialogue with international leaders. I know my peers also feel as passionately about this as I do. Whether discussing security, energy, culture, technology or society, younger generations want to take part in shaping the conversation and policy outcomes. Our voices need to be heard. With #yourMSC, we can connect with and influence decision-makers regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic status."

Statement from Mirko Drotschmann, MrWissen2Go: "For me as a journalist, this format is a unique opportunity to address questions that concern me and my generation directly to leading politicians and other participants at the Munich Security Conference. It happens far too seldom that decision makers are entering into a dialogue with the younger generation, so I'm really looking forward to this project."

The producer and editor of #yourMSC is the digital studio and multiplatform network Studio71. Technical support is provided by the German YouTube team, e.g. the establishment of the onsite YouTube Creator Lounge. Studio71 generates around ten billion video views per month worldwide through YouTube. The Digital Studio has extensive expertise in the implementation of journalistic formats, so Studio71 has also implemented the interview series #DeineWahl in the run-up to the 2017 general election with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chancellor candidate Martin Schulz.

From now on, all users are invited to ask their own questions using the hashtag #yourMSC to inform interviewers about topics they care about. All interviews will be broadcasted on YouTube and users can participate in the discussion on social media channels.

Ana Kasparian ("The Young Turks", USA), Haifa Beseisso ("Fly with Haifa", Dubai), Mirko Drotschmann ("MrWissen2Go", Germany), Mihai-Alexandru "Mikey" Hash ("Viral Studios", Romania) and Robin Bubble ("RobBubble", Germany) maintain different interests and backgrounds.
